Cafe Goo Goo Yen is a quality option among the huge amount of choices for Chinese food. It's not amazing food, but combines freshness, menu options, and taste where I always walk away satisfied. Be aware that while some places offer egg rolls and spring rolls, only spring rolls are offered here though they are referred to as egg rolls. I can recommend their hot tea and iced tea. Portion sizes are solid, especially if you are getting an entree to go. Service is solid though you feel watched as they seek to keep your glass filled and have your check ready for you as you finish your meal. It won't change your life, but it should satisfy your hunger.
I ordered a meal today and they were super fast and pleasant and even gave us two free eggrolls! The food is top notch. I had fried dumplings, mixed fried rice, and the seafood soup, which was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend! They were so fast and really nice on the phone and at the door.
I haven't been to this place but we always order our lunch as a group at work and they deliver. My favorite has been the shrimp fried rice and I haven't tried any other dishes from them. The rice is so good,I kept my leftovers in the fridge and after the 3rd day still taste the same and fresh. Keep it up guys👍💯%
Good food and clean restaurant!
Very good food. Nice atmosphere and the waitress was very nice and attentive
Always consistent, always high quality
Just the best !
Great service and clean establishment. Food was pretty good, as expected.
Very tasty and fresh...
I always order take out and they are consistent. The food is always delicious
Great place to eat and excellent service
My favorite comfort Chinese Food spot ever!
General Tso's Chicken - lunch special
The food is good. ... Very good. The new younger girl at the hostess area is not really a people person. I have run across her twice. She is not friendly at all. The other two ladies that are normally here... A-1 customer service. I called ahead to place an order for pick up.. I was placed on hold without her even saying hello first. She answered and the phone music/hold music began. I called back same thing... . I've been coming here/going there for years. ... this is the worst customer service ever.
Good food always fresh I will order again...they need to give more sauce
Always great and the owner is the nicest!
A tried and true family favorite
First time visiting and was a bit disappointed. The service was ok and fast but the food lacked flavor. The dinner specials are a good deal with soup, egg roll and entree for less than $9. I'll have to give it another try with a different dish then the chicken broccoli.
Never has failed me!
We enjoyed the food here. I believe I had the Mongolian beef. We also enjoy the relaxed family friendly atmosphere. The staff is very friendly.
Goo goo yen has been one of our favorite lunch spots for years. The staff is pleasant and service is great. I am a huge fan of their Spicy Tangy chicken!
Excellent service..tasty food..good price value
Nice atmosphere and good food
Great American Chinese cuisine and the prices are very good, especially the combos. This is my go to place to fill the Chinese Craving!
good service, listened to what I was wanting to eat and made a great suggestion to accommodate my desire.
Really good Chinese with great delivery service for many years. My department works overtime all the time and they are a main go-to for delivering our dinners and lunches when we can't leave to get food (and work while we eat, of course!).
My favorite Chinese food so far. Very good food and ambiance.
It is very clean. The service is very very good. I deducted a star because the dumplings weren't very good. Everything else was on point.
Easily a 4-star Chinese cuisine. I've had a few dishes here a couple of times and from service to plate (well to-go plate) it's been exquisite. I'm still looking for that X-factor that will boost their score to a 5 but since I'm moving I sadly don't know if I'll find it in time. If you live in the area and remotely care about Chinese food then do yourself a favor and come to Cafe Goo Goo Yen.
I have been here several times, always a very pleasant experience. More of a Senior crowd, very, peaceful and quiet. Food is the best!!
I've been here numerous times and I have enjoyed it every time. I've now made it a tradition to get carryout every Monday night. Every single time, that food is great without fail. They only messed up on a carryout order once, but they were quick and very helpful in rectifying it. I'd definitely recommend giving these good people a try if you're in the area.
You can certainly find more interesting and "authentic" restaurants in Chinatown. But this place is refreshingly simple, affordable, and consistently tasty. Also, the entire restaurant, including the BATHROOM, is scrupulously clean... vanishingly rare in an Oriental restaurant.
Love this place. I have been going to this restaurant for last 17years.
Love the food here!
They have fast service.
Good food good prices. Friendly staff. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because of the smell. It smelled like they mopped with old stagnant water. It hit me as soon as we walked in . First time here I will come back but if it smells that way again I'll walk right out.
Plenty of vegetarian options and the food is delicious. The vegetarian delight is really a delight. Lunch and dinner specials are very cheap and great quality.
Delicious and fresh...as always.
This was my first visit. My wife gets lunch here quite regularly, she loves if. I was very satisfied with the quality and taste of everything. I had the shrimp & scallops, loved it. It was very clean and the staff was friendly and efficient, and the wait time to be served was very minimal. I'll be back.
Fast sercive, and good food. Due to how much Ive eaten there it is what I compare all other chinese food to.
It was excellent i always love to come and eat here because the food is fresh and hot and the waiters are very nice today i had a kun pou chicken with fried rice, crab puffs and ice tea
My husband and I have gone to this restaurant for four years and still love it! You can't go wrong with any lunch or dinner special. The food is made fast and still hot once you get home to enjoy. We love this place and will come here for years to come! Thanks so much Cafe Goo Goo Yen!
The Hunan Chicken I had today from here left a lot to be desired. I don’t normally post negative reviews but the food was not that good. The vegetables were not crisp almost to the point of having no color, the flavor was very weak and the fried rice had no flavor at all. The price was inexpensive, but I expect restaurants to maintain a certain level of taste. This is just my opinion on this particular day, I may be wrong but I won’t be back here.
I loved the pan fried noodles and the wonton soup with fried wontons chips. But today the guy taking my order said he can't give me fried wontons. That's why I had to cancel my order. I order once a month for my workers. I guess this is the end for mr. Goo goo yen.
They make the BEST SHRIMP FRIED RICE I'VE HAD IN A VERY LONG TIME!! From my Military travels, this restuarant has every other joint beat hands down. And it's pretty to look at as well as tastes AWESOME!
Food and staff are always a pleasure.
Off the beaten path and quiet. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was very good. I especially enjoyed the hot and sour soup and the Hunan beef. Every thing seemed very fresh. I will go back.
Decent Northen style Chinese food, but nothing amazing. The mushu pork, happy family, and eggplant were nice, but they had some flaws that made the dishes slightly weird. The happy family had excellent scallops and flavor besides the sour chicken and beef. It tasted like they added vinegar to the meat. The eggplant was pretty sweet but maybe that's how the dish is. We also ordered a lunch combo and it came with wonton soup and an egg roll but I feel like they aren't made in house. However, the service and price are both good.
Update: After giving them a few more chances, they have gotten much better at getting the takeout orders correct. The food is relatively quick and tasty. Original Review:The food was pretty good but I was not a fan of the egg drop soup. They have gotten my take out order wrong twice but the food is so tasty I still keep going back. It's not bad for a quick lunch bite.
I enjoy this restaurant.
